Our mission
We address structural injustices in academic philosophy and work to remove barriers that impede participation for members of marginalized groups.
Our international organizing team, along with a network of hundreds of graduate-student-led chapters worldwide, works to promote philosophical work done by and about members of marginalized groups and to improve the conditions for philosophers from marginalized backgrounds across the profession.
What we do
The heart and soul of MAP. From Delhi to Dublin to Detroit, our network of 180+ chapters organizes local events to stimulate discussion of topics relevant to minority participation in academic philosophy and to build community and improve departmental climate.
Find a chapterWe are proud to support the programming and events of our chapters, including talks by external or internal speakers, mentorship events for undergraduates or graduates, K–12 philosophy programs for underserved youth, panel discussions, and practical workshops.
Request fundingMAP International organizers, in consultation with our chapter network, work to provide resources and advocate for the interests of members of marginalized groups in philosophy. We issue policy recommendations, provide how-to guides, and distribute and publicize useful resources through our website and social media.
